About us
Wexford Disability Development (C.I.L.) is run by a board of management with the assistance of a programme manager.
The programme is funded by Fas, who provide funds to pay a personal assistant (P.A.) to assist a client i.e. a person with a physical disability. The role of the P.A. is to assist their client in all aspects of daily living, this assistance is given at the direction and discretion of the client.
The Independent Living Fund committee came into being in 1996, it was set up to lobby Government Departments with the purpose of looking for permanent funding for the provision of P.A.'s for people with disabilities while Fas provides a much needed service and is much appreciated - Fas is not a permanent solution.
